Manuel J.
Borges
d. Mar 1, 2022
Manuel J. Borges, 86, of Fall River, husband of Clotilde (Moniz) Borges, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 in the comforts of his home following a long illness. Born in Arrifes, St. Michael, Azores, he was a son of the late Antonio Borges and the late Jovina (Couto) Borges.
Prior to his retirement he worked for Tillotson Boat for many years. An avid Sporting fan, he also loved gardening, tending to his grapevines and fruit trees, and making his own wine. He enjoyed music, playing the guitar, and, back in his younger days, riding his motorcycle. But what was most important to Manuel was spending quality time with all his family. He was a kind and generous man and will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him.
Besides his loving wife of sixty-three years, he leaves his daughters, Maria Isabel Gagnon (Richard Rodrigues) and Ruthie Mello (Tony), both of Fall River; his six grandchildren, Jason Gagnon, Monica Rodrigues, Wesley Mello, Brett Mello, Easton Mello, and Nikko Mello; his three great-grandchildren, Trinity Rodrigues, Quinn Mello, and Jade Mello; sister-in-law, Ana Neto (Manny) of Plymouth; three brothers, Joao Borges (Fatima) of the Azores and Tiberio Borges (Maria) and Antonio Borges (Maria), both of Canada; sister-in-law, Zenaida Medeiros of Connecticut; brother-in-law, Joao Carvalho of Sao Miguel, Azores; and many nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, March 7th, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by his private committal at St. Patrick Cemetery in Fall River. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation in Manuel's memory to: St Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude PL, Memphis, TN 38105 OR Children's Tumor Foundation, P.O. Box 7247, Philadelphia, PA 19170-0001.
