Manuel N. Carvalho, better known as "Natal," age 50, of 44 Kenny Dr, Tiverton, husband of Jorgina (Arruda) Carvalho, died Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008 at Beth Israel Hospital, Boston, after a short illness. Born in Bretanha, St. Michael, Azores, son of the late Joao and Angelina (Miranda) Carvalho, he emigrated to Fall River in 1975 and was proud to have become a US citizen in 1982. A landscape architect, he worked for The MacDowell Co. of Wayland for the past 8 years. A member of the former Our Lady of Health Church, he has been an active parishioner of Espirito Santo Church, participating in its choir and charismatic group. Devoted to his faith and family, he especially enjoyed fishing with his son. Besides his wife of 29 years, survivors include: children, Jennifer Lee Carvalho, Kathleen Andrea Carvalho & Nathan Edward Carvalho all of Tiverton; siblings, Fatima Sousa, Joao F. Carvalho & Maria dos Anjos de Medeiros all of Fall River, and Angelina Pacheco of Toronto, Canada; several nieces and nephews. His funeral Mass was celebrated by Rev. James Ferry on January 16, 2008 at Espirito Santo Church. Concelebrating were Father Jose dos Santos and Deacon Thomas Souza. Pallbearers were Matthew Penacho, Tony and Jonathan Frias, Kevin Sousa, Jason Carvalho and Derek Chaves. Committal services were held at Notre Dame Cemetery.
