Obituary

Manuel "Cesar" Medeiros, 86, of Somerset, husband of Isabel (Oliveira) Medeiros, passed away on Friday, November 22, 2024 at Charlton Memorial Hospital following a long illness.

Born in Santa Barbara, St. Antonio, St. Michael, Azores, he was a son of the late Manuel I. Medeiros and the late Maria C. Raposo. He bravely and proudly served in the Portuguese Army in the Azores. In 1967, Manuel and his wife immigrated to the United States to begin a new life.

Prior to his retirement he worked as a landscaper for many years. He loved fishing, gardening, tending to his grapevines, and making his own wine. A devout Catholic, he was a long-time parishioner of Espirito Santo Church where he faithfully attended Mass.  He also enjoyed traveling back to his homeland in the Azores and, most importantly, spending quality time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Besides his devoted wife of 58 years, he leaves his loving sons, Manuel C. Medeiros, Jr., and Alfred Medeiros and his wife, Christine, both of Somerset; his four grandchildren, Jeremy M. Medeiros, Devan A. Medeiros, Isabella M. Medeiros, and Emily E. Medeiros; his brother, Antonio Medeiros (wife, Conceicao) of the Azores; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Genoveva Faria.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, November 27th, at Espírito Santo Church followed by his committal at St. Patrick Cemetery both in Fall River.
