Obituary

Manuel Lopes Correia, 82, of Fall River, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford. He was the beloved husband of Deolinda (Cordeiro) Correia, with whom they shared 58 years of marriage. Born in Arrifes, St. Michael, Azores, son of the late Antone Jose and the late Maria (Cabral) Lopes Correia.

Manuel was a custodian at the Foxboro Company for eighteen years. He was an avid gardener and outdoorsman. He loved fishing for Scupp. He was known to enjoy malassadas and his wine. Manuel will also be remembered for his love of wrestling and music.

He is survived by: seven children, Manuel Correia and his wife Lillian of Fall River, Mary Correia and her husband Andy of Swansea, Connie Correia of Fall River, Tony Correia and his wife Fatima of Fall River, Lucy Correia and her husband Tim of Fall River, Rosemary Mihalos and her husband James of Bristol,  and Paula Amaral and her husband Eddie of Fall River; nine grandchildren, Nicole, Tom, Erica, Iesha, Kaydence, Kyle,  Sabian, Andrew, Ashley; two great grandchildren, Noah and Elijah; and many nieces and nephews.  Manuel was the brother of Gil Correia of Fall River, Maria Viveiros of Fall River, Maria Conceicao Gouveia of Somerset, and Maria do Carmen Lopes of New Bedford. He was also a brother of the late  Joao Lopes Correia, Serafim Correia, and the grandfather of the late Jessie Correia.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, March 27th, in Espirito Santo Church followed by his committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
