Manuel "Popeye" Anthony Correira, 84, of Fall River, husband of Barbara (Jones) Correira, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, May 19, 2023, following a brief illness. Born in Fall River, he was a son of the late Nicolina (Teixeira) Correira.
A United States Air Force Veteran, he bravely and proudly served his Country during Peacetime. Prior to his retirement, Manuel worked for Amtrak for thirty-four years. An avid train buff, he also loved his sports, including the Boston Red Sox, Bruins, Celtics, and Premier. Along with his wife he enjoyed trips to the casino, frequent travel to Florida, and a memorable visit to England. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great granddaughter.
Besides his loving wife of fifty-nine years, he leaves his four children, Karen A. Medeiros and her longtime companion, Scott Cioe, of Riverside, Rhode Island, David A. Correira and Lynn Laforce, both of Fall River, and Mark Correira of Swansea; his four grandchildren, Cory Medeiros and his wife, Aime, Jenna Laforce, Cameron Correira, and Emma Fontaine; one great-grandchild, Miranda Medeiros; his sister, Natalie Almeida (late husband, Antonio); one brother, Army CW5 Retired Ronald J. Correira; and his niece, Lisa Kingkade, husband William Kingkade and son Caleb.
His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, May 24th, in St Anthony of Padua Church followed by a private cremation. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation in Manuel's memory to: St Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude PL, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
