Obituary

Manuel DeMedeiros Carreiro, 85, of Fall River, husband of the late Olga (Santos) Carreiro, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 10, 2019 after a long illness. Born in Sao Pedro, Ponta Delgada, St. Michael, Azores, he was a son of the late Mariano Medeiros Carreiro and the late Maria Gloria (Sousa) Carreiro. Prior to retirement he worked as a presser in the local textile industry for many years. He loved playing dominos, cards, and cooking Sunday meals for his children. Manuel was an avid Porto fan, and, in his younger years, played soccer and boxed. A funny and lovable guy, he also enjoyed traveling to such places as Madeira, Canarias , and to his homeland. He was also a longtime member of the Don Carlos Club. He leaves: his children, Anabela Carreiro Pimentel of North Dartmouth, Lucy Goncalves, Raul Mariano Carreiro, and Emanuel Santos Carreiro and his fiancé, Lori Jean DaCosta, all of Fall River; five grandchildren, Jessica Raposo, Veronica Pimentel, Isaac Pimentel, Monica Goncalves, and Scott Goncalves; three great-grandchildren, Sydney Raposo, Sasha Raposo, and Caiden Alves; three sisters, Liliana Carreiro Moniz and her husband, John, of Florida, Carmelia Carreiro Patricio and her husband, Manuel Francisco, and Osana Carreiro Botelho and her husband, Joe, both of Fall River; He was also the brother of the late Fernandine Carreiro Furtado and Avelino Carreiro. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, September 16th, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by his committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
