Manuel V. Furtado, 81, of Fall River, husband of Maria do Carmo (Vizino) Furtado, passed away on Monday, January 15, 2018, at home after a brief illness. Born in Vila de Nordeste, St. Michael, Azores, son of the late Jose Furtado & Maria da Conceicao Furtado, he emigrated to Fall River in 1970, and was employed at the Venus de Milo Restaurant, of Swansea, for 37 years.

He enjoyed gardening and tending the grapes of his vineyard from which he made wine – but he especially loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Besides his wife, of 55 years, he is survived by: a daughter, Eduarda Motta of Florida; two siblings, Maria Macedo and Mario Furtado both of Fall River; and several nieces and nephews.

Manuel was the beloved grandfather of Cassie Borges, Fallon Raposo, Ryan Borges, Tommy Motta, and Jordan Motta. And beloved great grandfather of Devyn, Avery, & Gabriella. He was also the father of the late Gabriela Borges; and was predeceased by several siblings.

His Funeral Mass was held on Friday, January 19th, in Santo Christo Church followed by his committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
