Manuel Cabral Gomes, 95, of Fall River, husband of Lea (Medeiros) Gomes, passed away on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at Sachem Center for Health & Rehabilitation in East Bridgewater. Born in Fall River, a son of the late Armond Gomes and the late Antonia (Cabral) Gomes, he resided in Fall River most of his life – having also lived for a number of years as a child in the Azores.

A member of the International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) Local 4, he worked as a heavy equipment operator in the construction industry, employed with Capaldi Construction Company for many years. Manuel was a Navy veteran of World War II. An avid golfer, he was also a member of the Montaup Country Club.

Besides his wife, of 65 years, he is survived by: two children, Steven Gomes (wife Gina) of Dartmouth and Joan Rodrigues of Dighton; a granddaughter, Erin; and several nieces and nephews, including his godchildren, David Kominski and Mark Arruda. He was also the brother of the late John Gomes, Florence Moniz, and Leonora Kominski.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, October 8th, in Espirito Santo Church followed by his committal with Military Honors at St. Patrick Cemetery in Fall River.
