Manuel Joseph
Medeiros
d. Jan 14, 2022
Manuel Joseph Medeiros, 71, of Fall River, husband of Goretty (Barbosa) Medeiros, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 14, 2022. Born in Mosteiros, St. Michael, Azores, he was a son of the late Manuel Cabral Medeiros and the late Alice Conceicao (Raposo) Medeiros.
Prior to his retirement he worked in the maintenance department for the Fall River District Court of the Commonwealth of MA. In his early years he was a long time textile worker in the City of Fall River. From there he advanced to JJ Taylor Miller Distributing Company as a proud Salesman. He was an avid Benfica fan who also loved music and singing. He was a longtime member of St. Anthony of Padua Parish. He was involved in the church choir and assumed the role of auctioneer not only for his parish but also for many surrounding social clubs and other parishes. He was a little man with a big voice! He served as secretary for Banda Nossa Senhora da Conceicao Moisterence Club for many years. Manny was a very social man, known for his jokes and enjoyed telling stories of all sorts. But what was most important to Manny was spending quality time with his grandchildren, caring for them and loving watching his grandkids perform in activities they enjoyed.
Besides his loving wife of fifty years, he leaves his children, Kimberly Anne Medeiros and her fiancé, Steven Medeiros, of Westport, Goretty Lee Medeiros and her fiancé, Peter Amaral, and Robert Allen Braley, both of Fall River; his grandchildren, Kyra Jolie Aleeza Amaral, Bryce Peter Amaral, and Scarlett Angelina Medeiros; he was the brother of the late Leonilde Medeiros, one brother, Joseph Medeiros, and his wife, Ana, of Fall River; sister Leonilde Smith and her husband, Peter, of Tavares, Florida; and many nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, January 21st, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by his committal at St. Patrick Cemetery in Fall River. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation in Manuel's memory to: Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, 230 East Ohio Street, Suite 500, Chicago, Illinois 60611.
