Manuel Teves Luciano, age 59, of Somerset, Massachusetts, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 28, 2011, at the Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. He was the husband of Maria Luiza (Pavao) Luciano. Born in the village of Arrifes on the island of Sao Miguel in the Azores, he was a son of the late Alvaro Luciano and the late Rosalina (Teves) Luciano. After residing in Sao Miguel for twenty two years, and serving in the Portuguese Army, he moved to Fall River in 1974. A resident of Somerset since 1995, he worked as a metal fabricator for several years at the Welding Craftsmen Company in Easton, MA, and was also employed for many years at the former Dyna-Fab Co., Inc., of Rockland, MA. Manuel was a communicant of St. Michael's Church and an active Holy Ghost participant. He also enjoyed soccer and was a member of the Fall River Sports Club and the Republican Sports Club. In addition to his wife, Maria Luiza, surviving family members include a son, Edward Luciano and his wife Maria R. Luciano of Fall River, a daughter, Elizabeth Han and her husband Carlos of Somerset, two brothers, Laudalino Luciano of Arrifes, Sao Miguel, and Jose Almeida of Turlock, California, three sisters, Lucia Moniz of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, Cidalia Matos of Santa Clara, California, and Marylou Pontes of Swansea. He also leaves two granddaughters, Julia R. Han and Sophia M. Han, both of Somerset, and several nieces and nephews. His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, March 31, in St. Michael's Church followed by a committal service at the Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum near his crypt.
