Manuel P. Martins, 87, of Fall River, passed away at home on Thursday, November 16, 2023. He was the loving spouse to Maria M. (Misturado) Martins with whom he shared 65 years of marriage. Born in Fajā de Cima, Saõ Miguel, Açores to the late Francisco P. Martins and the late Maria (Carreira) Martins, he emigrated to Fall River in 1958.

Manuel was a parishioner of the former Our Lady of Health Church where he served as president and member of the Holy Name Society and Mordomo (several times) for the Espírito Santo Church Feast. This is where Manuel and Maria shared their faith and demonstrated their service to the church and to their five children.

Manuel loved to travel with his family. Upon retirement, he and his wife enjoyed a beautiful home in Saõ Miguel, where they hosted family and friends for many years.

He is the loving father to Gorett (Richard) Sousa of Fall River, MA, Paulianne (Alan) Teixeira of Westport, MA, Jerry Martins of Florida, Bryan (Brenda) Martins of Adams, MA, and Karyne Martins (fiancé Paul) of New Bedford, MA; and the most loving Vavô to several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his sister, Zenaida (Floriano) Sousa of Florida, and predeceased by his brother, John P. (Minerva) Martins. He leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and godchildren whom he loved.

His Funeral was celebrated on Monday, November 20th, at St. Theresa Church in Tiverton, RI, followed by his committal at Notre Dame Cemetery in Fall River.
