Manuel R. "Pawtucket" Oliveira, 86, of Fall River, husband of Nohemi "Norma" (Pereira) Oliveira, died Sunday, October 10, 2010 at Charlton Memorial Hospital. Born in Fall River, son of the late Antone & Florence (Rego) Oliveira, he lived for a short time during his childhood in Pawtucket, RI, and resided in Fall River most of his life. He served in the Army during World War II. He enjoyed horse-racing and the Red Sox, and was a member of the Young Nationals. He was also an avid reader. Besides his wife, he leaves: a son, Stephen M. Oliveira (wife, Sheila) of Rehoboth, a daughter, Joanne Souza (husband, Jack) of Assonet; 2 sisters, Olinda Hammond of Riverside, CA, and Florence Silva of Warren, RI; 4 grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jacob, Maxwell & Ava; several nieces and nephews. He was also brother of the late Anthony Oliveira. His funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Bernard's Church. Pallbearers Steven, Jameson and Jack Souza, Paul Bernier, John Torres and Stephen Oliveira, brought Manuel to his final resting place at St. Patrick Cemetery.
