Manuel C. Pavao, Jr., 84, of Fall River, beloved husband of the late Dolores R. (Furtado) Pavao, passed away peacefully at St. Anne's Hospital on Sunday, June 14, 2020. Born in St. Michael, Azores, the son of the late Manuel C. Pavao and the late Gilda (Reis Cabral) Pavao, he emigrated to Fall River in 1953 at age 18.
Prior to his retirement he was a cloth cutter in the local garment industry for many years. An active parishioner of Espirito Santo Church, he was a member of its Holy Name Society. He adored his loving family, the Red Sox, the ocean, fishing, golfing, and spending time with family. He also enjoyed dancing and traveling extensively with his wife to such places as Medugorie, Austria, Madeira, Lisbon, Cascais, Hutchison Island and Pompano Beach in Florida, Charlestown, South Carolina, Savannah, Georgia, and the Azores, as well as throughout the New England states.
Survivors include: his loving daughter, Elizabeth Millett, and her husband Michael (whom he loved like a son) of Berkley; seven siblings, Laurenio Pavao (wife Irene) of Fall River, Gilberta Marques (late husband Jerome) of Fall River, Cidalia Lopes (husband Anthony) of Fall River, Alda Mello (late husband John) of Westport, Aurelio Pavao (late wife Lucy) of Fall River, Marina Moniz (husband Ronald) of Somerset, and Olimpio Pavao (wife Paulette) of Tiverton, RI; and several nieces and nephews .
His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, June 17th, in Espirito Santo Church followed by his private committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
