Manuel Paiva Penacho, 74, of Fall River, husband of Maria J. (Narciso) Penacho, passed away at home on Friday, April 28, 2023, after a short illness. Born in Rabo de Peixe, St. Michael, Azores, a son of the late Jose Jacinto Penacho and the late Diolinda (Paiva) Penacho, he served in the Portuguese Army and emigrated to Fall River in 1973.

He worked at a foundry in Easton, MA, for 24 years, and had also been the proprietor of the International Marketplace formerly of Pleasant Street for 17 years. Manuel enjoyed gardening, tending his grapevines, and making wine.

Besides his wife, of 50 years, he is survived by: four siblings, Fatima Cidadao of Toronto, Canada, John Penacho of Belfountain Ontario Canada, Antonio Penacho of Maple Ridge British Columbia Canada, and Manuela Lopes of St. Michael, Azores; and several nieces and nephews. Manuel was also the father of the late Martin Penacho and Jeffrey Penacho; and a brother of the late Jose B. Penacho and Carlos Penacho.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, May 4th, in Espirito Santo Church followed by his committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
