Manuel Pereira, 86, of Tiverton, RI, companion of thirteen years to Pauline Belanger and former husband of Helen (Medeiros) Pereira, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving children on Monday, January 11, 2021 at Newport Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Fall River, he was a son of the late Manuel C. Pereira and the late Susan (Benedetto) Pereira.

A Retired Chief Petty Officer in the United States Navy, he bravely and honorably served his Country from 1950 to 1954, also serving in the Navy Reserves for thirty years and Newport Rhode Island Naval Base for twenty-five years. He loved gardening, cooking, and dining out. Manuel also enjoyed going on Cruises, his daily trips to local waterfronts, and traveling to such places as Bermuda, New Hampshire, Italy, and Portugal. He was also a long-time member of St. Madeline's Men's Club and a proud and active participant of the Westport Fair and Barbeque. But most important to Manuel was spending quality time with his family. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by all his children and forever remembered by many friends.

He leaves: his three daughters, Jane F. Souza and her husband, Charles, and Susan Pereira-Soares, both of Fall River, and Monica Pereira and her husband, Samuel McLellan, of Little Compton, Rhode Island; his seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; his two sisters, Jackie Sirois and Beverley DeCesaro (late husband, David), both of Fall River; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Mark A. Pereira and Gregory Pereira and brother of the late Ronald Pereira and Margaret Bouchard.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, January 20th, in St. Theresa's Church, Tiverton, followed by a private committal with military honors at Beech Grove Cemetery in Westport. MA.
