“Jorge” Manuel Pombo, 83, of Fall River, husband of the late Arciolinda (Tavares) Pombo, passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2026, surrounded by his family. Born in Madeira, Portugal, Jorge was the son of the late Manuel S. Pombo and the late Maria (Fernandes) Pombo.
Jorge grew up in Mozambique, where he met his wife Arciolinda and worked as a bus mechanic for the Portuguese Government until immigrating to the United States in 1970. He proudly served in the Portuguese Army. He was a former member of the Academica Club in Fall River. He worked in the construction field and was a lifelong member of the Mass. Laborers Union. In 1983 Jorge co-founded F.C. Construction Corp where he worked for 40 years.
Jorge never passed up the chance to share a good meal and a couple of cocktails with the family and friends he loved. Widely known amongst the people who knew him as a great cook, he was always quick to cook up someone’s favorite meal for the sake of a smile. Besides feeding his friends and family, one of his many passions was cheering on his beloved soccer team, Sporting CP.
Jorge will be dearly missed and forever remembered as a loyal, compassionate, generous father, grandfather, and friend to everyone whose life he touched.
He is survived by his children, Jorge Pombo and his wife Jennifer, of Somerset, Sandra Cameron and her husband Daniel of Westport; and his grandchildren, Jason Pombo, Justin Pombo, Alexander Cameron and Jonathan Cameron.
Relatives and Friends are invited to attend his Calling Hours to be held in Silva-Faria Funeral Home, 730 Bedford Street, Fall River, on Thursday, September 3, 2026, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
His Funeral will be held on Friday, September 4, 2026, at 9:00am from the Silva-Faria Funeral Home, 730 Bedford St, Fall River, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be offered in Santo Cristo Church at 10:00 am. Committal Service and interment will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery.
