Manuel S. Marques, 63, of Fall River, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday. Husband of Maria Fatima (Fernandes) Marques, with whom he shared 40 years of marriage. Born in Agua Retorta, St. Michael, Azores, son of Francisco Marques and the late Maria (Sousa) Marques. Manuel was an electrician with the Fall River Police Department Signal Division. An active parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Church he was integral in planning feasts and church events, sang in the choir, served as rector for the adult Portuguese retreats and was a Marian Medal recipient. He was also a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society, St. Anthony Band Club, Holy Name Society, and played trumpet with the Our Lady of Light Band. Manuel was a selfless and peaceful man who cherished spending time with his family. Survivors include a son, Jason F. Marques; daughters, Marianne Almeida (husband–Jason) and Jennifer Francoeur (husband–Jason); a brother, Luis Marques; sisters, Mary Jo Resendes, Margaret Costa, Mary Lou Furtado and Nancy Marques; grandchildren, Jacob, Matthew and a third, Brayden, expected soon; and several nieces and nephews. He was also brother of the late Gil Marques. His Funeral Mass was con-celebrated on Monday, June 25, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by his committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
