Manuel Vicente Sousa, 77, of Fall River, husband of the late Maria P. (Pavao) Sousa, passed away on Friday, September 20, 2024, at Charlton Memorial Hospital, after a long illness. Born in St. Michael Azores, only child of the late Francisco Sousa Bispo and the late Angela da Conceicao Vicente, he emigrated to Fall River in 1988. Manuel served with the Portuguese Army in the Mozambique war during the late 1960s.

He was employed at the former Quaker Fabric for many years until its closure. Manuel enjoyed fishing, playing harmonica, and spending time with his family, especially his grand- and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by: two children, Maria G. Paulino (husband Edmundo) and Paulo M. Sousa (wife Carla) both of Fall River; four grandchildren, Tania Franca (husband Jonathan), Sabrina Sousa, Francisco Paulino, and Brianna Sousa; six great grandchildren, Ayliyanah Franca, Sophia Franca, Emilia Sylvia, Addilyn Sylvia, Jackson Sylvia, and Eloise Franca; and several nieces and nephews.

His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, September 23rd, in Espirito Santo Church followed by his committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
