Obituary

Marcelina "Marcela"(Gonzalez) Camara, 90, of Fall River, wife of the late Jose Mateus Camara, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, April 10, 2023 at Charlton Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. Born in La Guaira, Venezuela, she was a daughter of the late Juan Roman Gonzalez and the late Juana (Ochoteco) Gonzalez.

Prior to her retirement she worked as a seamstress in the local textile industry for many years. She loved cooking, baking, and going to the beach. An avid Red Sox fan, she also enjoyed several cruises and traveling to such places as Europe, Washington, D.C., Montreal, Las Vegas, and back to her homeland in Venezuela. But what was most important to Marcelina was spending quality time with all her family.

She leaves her loving children, Ana Cecelia Morais and her husband, Raul, Hildegar Camara and his wife, Linda, City Council President  Joseph Camara and his wife, Lila, all of Fall River, and Deborah Imbriglio and her husband, Gerald, of Rehoboth; her grandchildren, Raul Morais, Jr., Courtney Camara, Nicholas Imbriglio, Rachael Camara, Brianna Camara, and Joseph Camara; three great-grandchildren, Kendra Cabral, Kyle Cabral, and Tyler Cabral; her sisters, Juana Hernandez (late husband, Alcala),  Marta Padilla (late husband, Hernan), both of Venezuela, and  Petra Gonzalez de Ramirez and her husband, Robert, of Taunton; her brothers, Delis Gonzalez and his wife, Omaira, and Carlos Gonzalez and his wife, Diana, both of Venezuela; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the grandmother of the late Lourdes Cabral and sister of the late Carmen Gonzalez, Jacinto Gonzalez, and Andres Gonzalez.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, April 22nd, in Holy Name Church followed by her committal at St. Patrick Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Marcelina's memory to the Alzheimer's Association, 309 Waverly Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02472.
