Marcelino Raposo
Pereira
d. Jan 17, 2022
Marcelino Raposo Pereira, 89, of Fall River, husband of Maria (Resendes) Pereira, passed away peacefully on January 17, 2022 in the comforts of his home following a brief illness. Born in Agua Retorta, St. Michael, Azores, he was a son of the late Joao Raposo and the late Conceicao Pereira.
Prior to his retirement he worked for many years in the local textile industry. An avid Porto fan, he also loved gardening, tending to his grapevines, and making his own wine. He was a long- time member of the Don Carlos Club and, in his younger days, he played baritone for Nossa Senhora da Penha da Franca marching band in Agua Retorta and also played for a couple of years for Banda Acoreana here in the United States. But what was most important to Marcelino was spending quality time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Besides his loving wife of sixty-five years, he leaves his children, Anna Aguiar and her husband, Luis, John Pereira and his wife, Hilda, Daniel Pereira, and Melinda Machado and her husband, Robert, all of Fall River, and Lucy Oliveira and her husband, David, of Westport; his grandchildren, Derek, Monica, Nicole, Jared, Brandon, Courtney, Jasmine, Justin, Kayla, and Ashton; his great-grandchildren, Jaimyn and Savannah; his sisters, Maria Costa and Urcelina Leite; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the father of the late Joseph Pereira and the brother of the late Manuel Pereira, John Teixeira, Joseph Teixeira, and Marciana Pimentel.
His Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, January 22nd, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by his committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
