Obituary

Margaret Batista, 78, of Swansea, wife of Antonio J. Aguiar, passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at St. Anne's Hospital. Born in Capelas, St. Michael, Azores, a daughter of the late Joao Botelho Rovoredo and the late Francelina da Encarnacao Batista, she emigrated in 1980 to Somerville, MA, lived in Lynn, MA, for a number of years, then moved to Fall River in the mid-2000s – moving to Swansea earlier this year.

She was employed as a house cleaner at Boston College for many years, retiring in 2009. Margaret was a member of the Pentecostal Assembly of New Bedford. She was a great cook who enjoyed caring for and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Besides her husband, of 58 years, she is survived by: six children, Maria Resendes (husband Renaldo) of Swansea, Victor Aguiar (wife Debora) of Stoneham, MA, Anabela Aleman of Fall River, Manny Aguiar (wife Viviane) of Billerica, MA, Maria Esaltina Pereira (husband Joao) of Freetown, and Luis Aguiar (wife Gladys) of Saugus, MA; four siblings, Maria Luisa Pereira of St. Michael, Azores, Fatima Dutra of Peabody, MA, Conceicao Ramalho of St. Michael, Azores, and Lurdes Melo of St. Michael, Azores; twelve grandchildren, Maryanne Pierre-Louis, Peter Raposo, Tanya Raposo, Jonathan Aguiar, Yasmin Nazario, Tiffanie Alemen, James Aguiar, Karina Aguiar, Brianna Aguiar, Ricardo Nazario, Jaden Aleman, and Laura Aguilar; ten great grandchildren, Alyssa Raposo, Matthew Uddin, Olivia St.pierre, Quintin Pierre-Louis, Lillyanna Pierre-Louis, Gabriella Raposo, Adrianna Raposo, Jozyah Castro, Armani Nazario, and Luna Flores; and several nieces and nephews. Margaret was also a sister of the late Manuel B. Revoredo, Maria Carmo Nunes, and Jose Duarte Revoredo.

Her Funeral Service was be held on Friday, July 14th, in our Somerset Chapel followed by her committal at Vinnicum Woods Cemetery in Swansea. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Margaret's memory to Pentecostal Assembly, 215 Sawyer Street, New Bedford, MA 02746; 508-996-9865.
