Margaret Charkowski, 68, of Fall River, former wife of Michael Charkowski,Jr., passed away on July 26, 2017. Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late John P. and Margaret (Donovan) Griffin. She was a clerk in the Fall River Trial Court for many years prior to her retirement. Very politically active, she involved herself in such civic causes as Stop LNG, the Parks Department, and the Fall River Public Library.  Always a patron of the arts, which she would attribute proudly to her Irish heritage, Margaret was an avid reader of poetry and enjoyed listening to the 'Blues.  She also loved baking, especially cookies and cakes, for family and friends.  Most importantly, she adored her granddaughters who provided the ultimate joy in her life.  She leaves her son, Michael Charkowski and his wife Heather of Epping, New Hampshire; two granddaughters: Liliana and Kalina Charkowski; three sisters: Joan Campbell, Veronica McMulty, and Joyce Franks; four brothers: Paul, Timothy, Daniel, and Michael Griffin; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late John Griffin and Angela Lozano. Following her cremation, a memorial gathering was held on Sunday, August 20th in our Fall River Chapel.
