Obituary

Margaret (Cabral) Moreira, 86, of Fall River, wife of Manuel Moreira, passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at Country Gardens Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Swansea. Born in Capelas, St. Michael, Azores, a daughter of the late Jose Cabral and the late Maria (Sousa) Cabral, she emigrated to Fall River in the early 1950s.

She was employed in the local textile industry for many years, retiring from the former Shelburne Shirt in 1978. In addition to being a devoted caregiver for her family, Margaret loved to shop and always enjoyed going out to dinner for a good meal (Portuguese streak being her favorite) and dessert (especially sweet rice).

Besides her husband of over 60 years, she is survived by: one sister, Maria Louisa Souza of Westport; three sisters-in-law, Margaret Moreira of Fall River, Hilda Viveiros of Fall River, and Maria Espirito Santo Cabral of Tiverton; a granddaughter, Melinda Cabral; a great granddaughter, Autumn Rose Cabral; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Michael Moreira; and sister of the late John Cabral and Freddy Cabral.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, March 13th, in Espirito Santo Church followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
