Obituary

Margaret (Franco) Rodrigues, 70, of New Bedford, wife of Joseph V. Rodrigues, passed away unexpectedly at St. Luke's Hospital on Monday, October 19, 2020.

Born in Sao Roque, St. Michael, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Alfredo M. Franco and the late Maria E. (Pereira) Franco.

She loved cooking, family gatherings, and children. Margaret also enjoyed traveling to such places as Portugal, Maine, Virginia, New Hampshire, and Pennsylvania. A devout Catholic, she was a long-time parishioner of St. Mary's Cathedral, participated in many Holy Ghost events, and was very much dedicated and devoted to Our lady of Fatima. Margaret was fluent in Spanish and had a thirst to learn other languages such as French and Italian.

Besides her husband of forty-six years, she leaves: her sisters, Mary Souza and her husband, David, of Fall River, Fatima Ferreira and her husband, Paul, of Somerset, and Linda Ferreira and her husband, Manuel, of Carrollton, Virginia; her brother, Alfredo Franco and his wife, Maria, of Fall River; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Neil Joseph Rodrigues.

Although Margaret did not have any grandchildren of her own, she loved her grandnephews and grandnieces and was considered as a surrogate grandmother to all of them. She was affectionately known as "Ti Vo" by Madison, Reily, Kassidy, Camden, Gabriella, Benjamin, James, James, Thomas, and Brielle. She was very proud to share this duty with her three sisters.

According to her wishes, Margaret was cremated and her cremains were entombed in the crypt of her late son, Neil, at the Note Dame Cemetery Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation in her memory to: St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude PL., Memphis, TN, 38105-9959.
