Margarida
Sardinha
d. May 8, 2024
Margarida Sardinha, 89, of Fall River, widow of Carlos C. Sardinha, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Wednesday, May 8, 2024. Born in Agua Retorta, St. Michael, Azores, a daughter of the late Manuel Soares and the late Maria (Cabral) Soares, she emigrated to Fall River in 1951.
Prior to her retirement in 1999, she worked in the local textile industry for many years, for such companies as Abel Mfg and Forecaster. Margarida was also a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union ("ILGWU") now called UNITE. More than anything she enjoyed listening to her sons sing and play music.
She is survived by: twin sons, Daniel S. Sardinha and David S. Sardinha both of Fall River; two sisters, Maria de Melo of Fall River and Maria Nascimente Sardinha of Fall River; and many nephews and nieces, including her loving goddaughter, Irene Goncalves. Margarida was also a sister of the late Manuel Soares, Jr.
Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, May 13th, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by her committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
