Maria dos Anjos Pimentel, 89, of Somerset, wife of the late Jose DeSousa Pimentel, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 1, 2019 at the Somerset Ridge Nursing Home after a long illness. Born in Capelas, St. Michael, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Antonio and Maria Neves (Correia) Sousa Medeiros. Prior to retirement, she worked as a machine operator in the local textile industry. Maria loved cooking, baking, crocheting, and cross-stitching. She also enjoyed soap operas, reading, listening to music, and taking care of her cherished parakeet "Bobinha". A devout Catholic, she was a member of Irmaos do Carmo and attended mass faithfully. She leaves: her children, Antonio DeSousa Pimentel and Simeão S. Pimentel, both of Fall River, Carmen Leonard and her husband, John, of Florida, Laura DeSousa Bernardo and her husband, Joseph, of Swansea, Ana Regina Kallini of New Hampshire, and Isabel P. Rushton and her husband, James, of Dartmouth; fourteen grandchildren, Marc Pimentel, Jordan Pimentel, Tiffany Gibney, Priscilla Bergeron, Veronica Bernardo, Cassandra Bernardo, Keith Bernardo, Benjamin Bernardo, Nichole Kallini, Devin Kallini, Jesseca Kallini, Allix Kallini, William Rushton, and Rebecca Rushton; seven great-grandchildren, Dominic Gibney, Reagan Gibney, Brayden Pimentel, Shane Pimentel, Liam Bergeron, Charlotte Bergeron, and Liam Fellows; her sister, Irene Carvalho D'Arruda (late husband, Augusto) of Brazil; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Maria do Carmo DeSousa Pimentel and the sister of the late Jose Sousa Medeiros. Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, March 6th, in St. John of God Church in Somerset followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery in Fall River.
