Maria Aguiar Raposo, 95, of Somerset, widow of Joao D. Raposo, passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2019, at St. Anne's Hospital. Born in Mosteiros, St. Michael, Azores, the daughter of the late Manuel Carvalho and the late Helena Aguiar, she emigrated to Fall River in 1967, and moved to Somerset in 1976.

She was employed in the local garment industry for about twenty years, retiring from the former Shelburne Shirt Co., and was a member of ACTWU. She also enjoyed reading and knitting, and was a very religious person.

Survivors include: two children, Connie Matos (husband Manuel) and Fatima Matos (husband Diamantino) both of Somerset; a daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Dias of Fall River; five grandchildren, Sally Araujo, Timothy Matos, Jason Matos, Keith Matos, and Kelly Matos; four great grandchildren, Savannah, Alexander, Camden, and Tyrus; and many nieces & nephews. She was also the mother of the late Joao M. Dias and Jose Dias; and the sister of the late Tome Felipe, Jose Felipe, Antonio Felipe, Francisco Felipe, Felipe Carvalho, and Joao Carvalho.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, January 28th, in St. John of God Church, Somerset followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery in Fall River.
