Maria Manuela Alves Parece, 97, of Somerset, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2025. She was the wife of the late Jose Maria Parece. She was born in Ponta Delgada, St. Michael, Azores, the daughter of the late Manuel Alves Cordeiro and Natalia Costa Alves Cordeiro. She lived in Somerset for the past 61 years.

Maria received her bachelor degree in elementary education from the former Boston State College. She began her teaching career while living in the Azores where she taught for several years. She was a bilingual teacher in the Fall River Public School for 21 years. She was a member and Faithful Catholic of St. Patrick's Church in Somerset, MA.

Besides her late husband of 58 years, Jose Maria Parece, she is survived by three sons, Jose Alves Parece of Swansea, MA, Nelson Alves Parece of East Providence, R.I., Gary Alves Parece and his wife, Jody Menard-Parece, of Somerset, MA; three daughters, Rita Annis and her husband, Albert Annis, of Cranston, RI, Natalie Alves Parece and her husband, Glenn Cooper, of South Kingstown, RI, and Vanda Parece-Wright of Hawaii. Maria was the sister of the late Stelvio Alves Cordeiro of Coventry, RI. She leaves eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, December 4th, in Our Lady of Peace Parish at St. Patrick's Church followed by her committal St. Patrick's Cemetery both in Somerset.
