Maria Dos
Anjos Barreira Aguiar
d. Jun 29, 2022
Maria dos Anjos Barriera Aguiar, 81, of Westport, former wife of the late Antonio Aguiar, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 29, 2022 in the comforts of her home following a long illness.
Prior to her retirement she worked as a machine operator in the local textile industry for many years. She loved gardening, dancing, Fox News, cruises, and traveling to such places as Israel and the Azores. She also enjoyed listening, requesting and dedicating songs to friends on Armanda Arruda's Portuguese radio. Maria savored a cold beer after gardening, wine with her meals, and a blackberry brandy before bed. Most importantly, she loved her family deeply, instilled high standards and morals in them, and was steadfast, instrumental, and a vital "force" to their education and success.
She leaves her loving daughter, Maria Lee Aguiar of Fall River; her grandson, Jesse Aguiar Tamba; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Dinis, Jose, and Jacinto Barreira.
Her daughter would like to thank Robin and Brittany from Kindred Hospice, and Betty Ruttley, Gina Marabuto, Nancy Hall, and Sandra Branco for the exceptional care that they provided for her Mom during her illness and final days. Acknowledgements of great appreciation also for her cousin, Hilda Arruda, for all her support and Jesse Barreira for putting a smile on Maria's face with his numerous visits and gifts of O'Doul's to kill her craving for beer.
Her Funeral Service was held on Sunday, July 3rd, during a visitation period in our Fall River Chapel followed by a private cremation. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation in Maria's Memory to: Bristol Adult Education Program https://host.nxt.blackbaud.com/donor-form?svcid=renxt&formId=329bfda5-b6b2-4db1-83fd-4d4737f2304e&envid=p-Dojf47VdAkGgs7Suh1y22g&zone=usa .
