M. Antonieta Alves, 71, of No. Dighton, wife of Carlos P. Alves, passed away unexpectedly Monday 6/8/15 at Charlton Memorial Hospital, after years of illness. Born in St. Michael, Azores, daughter of the late Paul & Diamantina (Souza) Cordeiro, she emigrated to Fall River in 1960, and lived in No. Dighton for the past 45 years. A consultant in sales for over 30 years, she worked for various companies, including Princess House, Home Interiors, and Celebrating Home. She was also an expert seamstress. She enjoyed cooking and going to the beach, but mostly spending time with her family. Besides her husband, she leaves: a daughter, Dena Grota of Dighton; a brother, Mario Cordeiro of California; 3 grandchildren, Steven, Angela & Holly Grota; several nieces & nephews; and lifelong close friend, Rose Couture. She was also sister of the late John Cordeiro & Paulo Ornelas. A funeral service was held during calling hours at our Somerset Chapel on Thursday, June 11th. Private cremation followed.
