Maria S. Antunes, 89, of Fall River, wife of Jose R. Antunes, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at the Catholic Memorial Home. Born in Sao Roque do Faial, Madeira, Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Manuel Menezes and the late Maria Sousa. Prior to her retirement she was a seamstress in the local garment industry for many years. A parishioner of Espirito Santo Church, Maria was also a member of the Oracao Carismatica Society. Besides her husband of seventy years, she leaves: her children, Martinho Antunes and Teresa Rogers and her husband, James, both of Fall River, Jordan Antunes and his wife, Nancy, of Waltham, MA, Roque Antunes of Lisbon, and Salete Antunes-Kenyon and her husband, Steven, of Taunton, MA; four grandchildren, Ashley Rogers Wheet, Eric Antunes, Kristen Antunes, and Christina Kenyon; three brothers, Jose Menezes and Joaquim Menezes and his wife, Maria, both of Madeira, and Antonio Menezes and his wife, Maria, of Brasil; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Manuel Joaquim Antunes and sister of the late Manuel Menezes and the late Joao Menezes. Her funeral arrangements, under the direction of the Silva-Faria Funeral Homes, were private.
