Maria R. Borges, 92, of Fall River, wife of the late Manuel I. Borges, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 16, 2024 at Charlton Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Serreta, Terceira, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Jose Rodrigues and the late Delfina C. Domingos.

Prior to her retirement she worked as a seamstress in the local textile industry for many years. She loved cooking, baking, crocheting, and sewing. She also enjoyed traveling to such places as Canada, Las Vegas, and back to her homeland in the Azores.

She leaves her loving children, Mary Lauzier and her husband, John, of Fall River, Eselda (Borges) Major, of Seekonk, Joseph M. Borges and his wife, Cynda, of North Dighton, and Ernest R. Borges and his wife, Christine, of Fall River; her eight grandchildren, Lisa Fortier, Melanie Fortier, Kellie Borges, Nathan Fortier (Nadia), Kyle Borges (Samantha), Ashley Borges, Victoria Silva (Eric), and Emily Major; her nineteen great-grandchildren, Kayla, Nathan, Cameron, Zackarie, Michael, Ava, Sydney, Savion, Audrey, Julian, Zaire, Gianna, Ryder, Brady, Emily, Kash, Graysen, Luke, and Daniel; her sister, Valdemira Machado (late husband, Serafim); and many nieces and nephews.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, December 20th, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
