Maria C. "Nia" Botelho, 53 of Fall River, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on April 9, 2008 after a courageous battle with Lupus. Born in Agua Retorta, St. Michael, Azores, daughter of Joao C. and Maria Alexandrina (Resendes) Botelho of Fall River, she immigrated to Fall River in 1966. She enjoyed a deep religious faith and a never ending love of her family. She loved movies, music, shopping and especially hot fudge sundaes with extra nuts. She was a devoted supporter of the World Vision Program for children. She was sister of Laurinda Resendes (husband Jorge) of Porto, Portugal, Jorgelina Cote of Fall River, Juliet Silva (husband Joseph) of Somerset, Peggy Botelho of Lakeville, Bella Luddy (husband James) of Swansea, Joseph Botelho (wife Heidi) of Acushnet, Lee Souza, George Botelho (wife Christine) and Robert Botelho, all of Fall River, godmother of Scott Silva, Megan Souza, Tracy Torres and Heidi Botelho. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, aunts & uncles. Her funeral Mass was celebrated in Santo Christo Church. Pallbearers Scott and Brian Silva, Joseph and Jason Botelho and Timothy Torres carried Maria to her final resting place at St. Patrick's Cemetery.
