Obituary

Maria Rosa Braga, 75, of Fall River, wife of Jose D. Braga, passed away on Friday, September 26, 2025, at Charlton Memorial Hospital surrounded by family. Born in Agua Retorta, St. Michael, Azores, a daughter of the late Luis Marques and the late Maria (Cabral) Marques, she emigrated to Fall River in 1966.

Employed in the local textile industry, Rosa retired in 2004 after many years at former Louis Hand, former Aberdeen, and CHF. She was also a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union (I.L.G.W.U.) now called UNITE.

With a compassionate and giving nature, Rosa fiercely loved doting on and caring for her family. She enjoyed crocheting and needlepointing, as well as traveling to such places as the Caribbean, Bermuda, Canada, and the Azores.

Besides her husband of 47 years, she is survived by: three daughters, Sonya Braga, (husband Brandon Medeiros) of Raynham, Mandy Mack (husband Eric) of Fall River, and Sandy Rimmer (husband Thomas) of Swansea; five siblings, Maria Fatima Raposo of St. Michael, Maria Jose Melo of Fall River, Veneranda Moniz of Arizona, Maria Gloria Marques of Fall River, and Antonio Marques of Fall River; four grandchildren, Rhodes, Nohle, Reide, and Ezra; and many nieces and nephews. Rosa was predeceased by brothers, Luis Marques and Manuel Marques.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Catholic Memorial Home for their kind and compassionate care.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, October 3rd, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by her committal at St. Patrick Cemetery.
