Maria C. Botelho, 90, of Fall River and wife of the late Jose Botelho, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2021 at Charlton Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Revla, St. Michael, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Manuel Pereira da Mota and the late Silvana Pereira da Mota Botelho.
Prior to her retirement, she was a sewing machine operator in the local garment industry for many years. Maria was a kind and very social woman and was known as "Comadre" to all of her many friends. She also loved cooking, baking, playing cards, cruises, and traveling to such places as California, New York, Canada, and to her homeland in the Azores. Most notably, she was a devout Catholic and prayed the rosary daily. Maria was also a long-time member of Our lady of Light Band Club.
She leaves: her loving children, Maria N. DeSilva and her husband, Manuel, of Swansea, Mary Jo Pereira and her husband, Noah, Joseph Botelho and his wife, Lori, and Susana Botelho and her partner, Tina, all of Fall River; her nine grandchildren, Patricia Andrade and her spouse, Michael, Jeffrey DeSilva and his spouse, Helen, Jonathan DeSilva and his spouse, Meaghan, Amanda Bangs and her spouse, Mark, Mark Pereira (Leakna) Joseph Botelho, Justin Vitorino (Jess), Antonio Vitorino (Crystal), and Cassandra Vitorino (James); her seven great-grandchildren, Mykala Andrade, Christian DeSilva, Jeffrey DeSilva, Abigal DeSilva, Chase DeSilva, Adriana DeSilva, and Jayd Bangs; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Maria Benevides and Julio Mota.
Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, November 15th, in Holy Trinity Parish Church followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
