Maria Conceicao (Duarte Ferraz) Costa, 78, of Fall River, widow of Robert Costa, passed away at St. Anne's Hospital, Fall River, on Friday, March 20, 2020 after a long illness. Born in Sao Pedro, Ponta Delgada, St. Michael, Azores, a daughter of the late Manuel Duarte Ferraz and the late Maria Rosario Cabral, she emigrated to Fall River in 1973.

A parishioner of Espirito Santo Church, she loved cooking, family gatherings, and animals, especially dogs.

She is survived by: two daughters, Rose Raposo (husband Luis) of Fall River and Roberta DeOliveira (husband Ricardo) of Fall River; five siblings, Hilda Ferraz and Antonio Ferraz both of Fall River, Adriana Teixeira of Cambridge, Ontario, Canada, Manuel Ferraz of Somerville, MA, and Rosaria Silva of Figueira da Foz, Portugal; a granddaughter, Kendra DeOliveira; a great grandson, Jovanni; and many nieces & nephews. She was also a sister of the late Zelia Sousa, and Adriana Ferraz.

Due to the COVID pandemic, a private service was on Friday, March 27th, in our Fall River Chapel followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.

Family members are always grateful for relatives and friends wishing to make in-person expressions of kindness and support. But, because of this pandemic, all are urged to express sympathy online or by mail.
