Maria Carreiro Oliveira, 95, widow of Jose Batista Oliveira, passed away at home on Sunday, July 30, 2017. Born in Livramento, St. Michael, Azores, daughter of the late Jacinto Carreiro and the late Maria do Carmo Pereira, she emigrated to Fall River in 1972 and work for many years in the local textile industry, retiring from Bomark in 1987 at age 66. A devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family, one of her greatest interests was reading.

She is survived by: six children, Joao L. Batista of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, Maria do Carmo Melo & Eduarda Dias both of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Edward M. Oliveira, Artemisia Barselou & Teri Machado all of Fall River; a brother, Eduardo Carreiro of Toronto, Ontario, Canada; fifteen grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and several nieces & nephews. A son, Jose J. Oliveira, and several siblings, predeceased her.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, August 4th, in Espirito Santo Church followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
