Fall River

Obituary

Maria Do Carmo Tabicas, 90, of Fall River, wife of the late Manuel  F. Tabicas, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, March 13, 2019 surrounded by her loving family.  Born in Agua Retorta, St. Michael, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Jaime and Maria Conceicao (Melo) Aguiar. In her younger days, she worked as a presser in the local textile industry. She was a homemaker most of her life, a role she very much enjoyed. Maria loved cooking, baking, and going to the beach, especially Colt State Park and Seapowet Beach in Tiverton. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, quilting, and traveling once a year to her homeland. A devout Catholic, Maria was a parishioner of St. Anthony of Padua Church and was a member of Our Lady of the Rosary Sodality. She leaves: her children, Laura Cabral (late husband, Tony), Joseph C. Tabicas and his wife, Dina, David Tabicas and his long-time companion, Cristina Esteves, all of Fall River, Luis M. Tabicas and his wife, Urania of Dartmouth, Manuel F. Tabicas and his wife, Palmarina of Everett, MA, and George M. Tabicas and his wife Jodi of Westport; 15 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late Jose Carlos Tabicas and Maria Do Carmo Tabicas and the sister of the late Manuel, Joao, and Jaime Aguiar, Maria De Melo Aguiar and Diamantina Aguiar. The family would like to extend their utmost gratitude to Compassionate Care Hospice for the wonderful care they provided. Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, March 18th, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by her committal at Oak Grove Cemetery.
