Maria da Conceicao (Melo) Borges, 93, of Fall River, widow of Felipe Borges, passed away on Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at St. Anne's Hospital. Born in Santa Barbara, St. Michael, Azores, a daughter of the late Manuel Melo and the late Ana (Faria) Melo, she emigrated to Fall River in 1970.

She was employed in the local textile industry for many years at the former Quaker Fabric. Maria enjoyed baking and loved to cook for and spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by: three children, Nelia Arruda (husband Manuel) of North Easton, MA, Maria Gallagher (husband David) of Bellingham, MA, and Marlene Branco (husband Joseph) of Fall River; one sibling, Agostinho Melo of Fall River; seven grandchildren, Craig, Kyle, Shaun, Andrew, Lisa, Ryan, and Caitlin; four great grandchildren, Juliana, Mya, Shannon, and Leanne; and several nieces and nephews. Maria was also a sister of the late Mariano Melo, Maria Aguiar, Jeremias Melo, and Manuel Melo.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, June 15th, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
