Maria C. Furtado, 78, of Fall River, died Sunday at Charlton Memorial Hospital. Wife of Luiz P. Furtado. Born in Livramento, Sao Miguel, Azores, daughter of the late Antonio & Julia (Correia) Caetano. After 39 years in the Azores she moved to Fall River in 1967, returning to Sao Miguel for 6 years in 1986. Employed in the garment trade for many years, she was a member of ACTWU. Mother of Luis R. & Isaac R. Furtado and Alcira Doiron of Fall River, M. Furtado of Mexico, Cecilia Furtado of Memphis, TN, and the late Manuel A. Furtado, sister of the late Manuel Caetano. She also leaves 9 grandchildren & a great granddaughter. Funeral was held Friday, August 24th in Espirito Santo Church. Pallbearers were Paul Doiron, Matthew Doiron, Isaac Furtado, Cory Furtado, Christopher Furtado and Lucas Furtado. Interment St Patrick Cemetery.
