Maria C. Costa, 90, of Fall River, passed away on Wednesday. She was the widow of Jose P. Costa. Born in Fall River, daughter of
the late Manuel and Rosa (Rego) Carvalho. An active parishioner of Espirito
Santo Church, she served as Eucharistic Minister, was a member of the Feast
Committee, the Holy Rosary Sodality and was a Marion Medal recipient. Survivors
include her son, Joseph M. Costa of Los Angeles, CA; her daughter, Beatrice
Tavares of Berkley; a brother, Antonio Carvalho of Somerset; grandchildren,
Sarah McEvoy and Daniel Tavares; great grandchildren, Leah and Kate McEvoy; and
several nieces and nephews. She was also sister of the late Luiz R. Carvalho
and Manuel R. Carvalho. Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, September 30, in Espirito Santo Church followed by her committal at the Notre Dame Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her memory to the St. Vincent Home, 2425 Highland Ave., Fall River, MA 02720.
