Maria D. Resendes, 73, of Fall River, wife of the late Jose C. Resendes, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2017 at Grace Barker Nursing Home in Warren, RI, following a long illness. Born in St. Antonio, Nordeste, St. Michael, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Tobias and Maria (Raposa) Sousa. She worked in the local textile industry as a seamstress for many years prior to her retirement. Maria enjoyed cooking, baking, Portuguese soap operas and shopping at the mall. She leaves her loving son, Carlos Resendes of Fall River; a sister, Natividade Sousa and her husband Joaquim of Parede, Portugal; two brothers: Anselmo Sousa and his wife Belmida of Toronto, Canada and Carlos Sousa and his wife Elizabeth of Ponta Delgada, Azores; and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late David Sousa. Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, September 23rd, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by her committal and entombment at the Notre Dame Cemetery Mausoleum.
