Maria D. Soares, 79, of Fall River, wife of the late Joseph R. Soares, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 14, 2023 following a brief illness. Born in Lisbon, Portugal, she was a daughter of the late Francisco Paralta and the late Emilia (Almeida) Silva.

She was an excellent homemaker who loved cooking, baking, sewing, and gardening. She also enjoyed traveling to such places as Florida, Pennsylvania, and Canada. But what was most important to Maria was spending quality time with all her family.

She leaves her loving children, Michael Soares and his wife, Flavia, of Fall River, and David Soares and his wife Alicia, of Somerset; her grandchildren, Colin Soares, Samantha Soares, Kasey Soares, Katie Soares, Megan Soares, Avery Soares, and Evelyn Soares; her sisters, Lourdes Rodrigues, Irene Morandi, and Maria Marques; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the mother of the late John Soares and sister of the late Jose Silva.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, December 19th, in Espirito Santo Church followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
