Maria DaLuz (Resendes) Correia, 95, of Somerset, wife of the late Jose Correia, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 9, 2023 in the comforts of her home. Born in Feteiras do Sul, St. Michael, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Manuel Resendes and the late Maria Jose (Almeida) Resendes.
Prior to her retirement she was a presser for Bristol Knitting Mills for many years. She loved crocheting, cooking, and baking, especially her delicious biscoitos. She also enjoyed gardening, shopping with her daughters, and, most importantly, spending quality time with all her family. As a devout Catholic, Maria faithfully attended Mass and prayed the rosary daily. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She leaves her four loving and devoted daughters, Maria Margarida Raposo and her husband, Eduardo, Genoveve DeSousa and her husband, Guilherme, Albertina Benevides and her husband, Manuel, and Zelia Raposo and her husband, Michael, all of Somerset; her eight grandchildren, Debra Charest, Donna Estrela, Billy DeSousa, Diane Ahearn, Melinda Pina, Matthew Benevides, Michael Raposo, and Andrew Raposo; thirteen great-grandchildren, Isabel, Olivia, Ryan, Sophia, Grace, Jaxson, Avery, Izaiah, Luke, Emmy, Olivia, Elise, and Cameron; her brother, Jose Resendes and his wife,Ernestina, of Taunton; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Maria DoCarmo Adriano and the late Manuel Resendes.
Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Friday, January 13th, in St. John of God Church followed by her committal at St. Patrick's Cemetery both in Somerset.
