Maria J. de Lima, 90, of Fall River, wife of the late Agostinho de Lima, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at the Fall River Jewish Home following a long illness. Born in Agua Retorta, St. Michael, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Manuel Resendes and the late Alexandrina (Resendes) Resendes.

Prior to her retirement she was a sewing machine operator in the local textile industry for many years. A knack for remembering everyone's birthday, she also loved cooking, writing poems, singing in the church choir, and watching her Portuguese soap operas. As a devout Catholic, she faithfully attended Mass and prayed the rosary daily. But most notably, Maria was a kind and gentle woman who very much enjoyed spending quality time with all her family, especially her grandchildren.

She leaves her loving daughters, Natalie Thomas of Somerset and Sandra Duquette and her husband, Denis, of Westport; her grandchildren, Evan John Thomas and Victoria Marie Thomas; one brother, Ernesto Resendes (late wife, Mary Jo); one brother-in-law, Norberto Tavares; and many nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Maria Botelho (late husband, John) Maria Estrella Tavares, and Luis Resendes (late wife, Maria).

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, February 18th, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by her committal at Oak Grove Cemetery.
