Maria Emilia Borges, 92, of Fall River, passed away Friday, March 3, 2017 at the Catholic Memorial Home. Born in Agualva, Terceira, Azores, daughter of the late Francisco Vieira Sousa and Rosa Gonsalves (Prenda) Sousa, she emigrated to Fall River in 1965.

She worked for many years at American Tourister formerly of Warren, RI. A parishioner of the Santo Christo Church, she was also a member of its Holy Rosary Society.

Emily is survived by: three sisters, Evelina Cunha and Durvalina Correia both of Fall River, and Merces Melo of Montreal, Canada; many nieces and nephews, including her caregiving godchildren, Ana Cunha and Anna Monteforte. She was also a sister of the late Manuel Sousa and Alvarina Matthews.

Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, March 8th, in Santo Christo Church followed by her committal at Pine Hill Cemetery in Taunton. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating toward mass(es) to be said for the repose of her soul.
