Maria Estrella Tavares, 65, of Fall River, wife of Norberto Tavares, died Wednesday 3/19/14 after a long illness. Born in Agua Retorta, St Michael, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Manuel & Alexandrina (Resendes) Resendes. She had worked at various companies in the local textile industry, including the former Anderson-Little for 22 years, later retiring due to disability in 1998, and was a member of ACTWU (now UNITE). Besides her husband , she leaves: 2 children, David A. Tavares and Suzanne M. Tavares (companion Alvaro Sousa) both of Fall River; 4 siblings, Maria Conceicao Botelho, Maria Jose DeLima & Ernesto Resendes all of Fall River, and Luis Resendes of Toronto, Canada; a grandson, Alexander Sousa; many nieces & nephews. Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, March 24, in St Anthony of Padua Church followed by her committal at Oak Grove Cemetery.
