Maria F. (Benfeito) Aguiar, 77, the wife of Gilberto Manuel Aguiar, passed away on May 22, 2019 in Charlton Memorial Hospital.  Maria was born in Porto Formoso, St. Michael, Azores, and was a daughter of the late Jose Lopes and the late Maria (Furtado) Lopes. She had worked in the garment industry as a seamstress. She was a woman of faith, and religion was a very important part of her life. She was an avid gardener and also took great pride into make her her daughters' clothing.  Besides her husband of 53 years, she leaves:  five children, Lucy Andrade and her husband Antonio of Fall River, Nelly Ferreira and her husband John of Fall River, Ana Obin and her husband Joseph of Norfolk, Gilberto Aguiar and his fiancé Kim Dias of Fall River, and Kevin Aguiar of Fall River; eight grandchildren, Eric Andrade, Tyler Andrade, Kiana Andrade, Izacc Obin, Christopher Obin, Cayden Aguiar, Emily Ferreira and Leah Mullaney;   four siblings, Manuel Lopes, Altina Branco, Eduarda Aguiar, and Laudalino Lopes all of Montreal and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Gilberto F. Aguiar and the sister of the late Jose Lopes, Clementina Teixeira, Humberto Lopes, and Antonio Lopes. Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday, May 28th, in Espirito Santo Church followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
