Maria F. Coelho, 63, of Westport, Massachusetts, passed away on Monday, October 5, 2015. After several years of battling cancer, her life ended, peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Francisco Coelho for 38 years and beloved Mother of Grace Marie Coelho, both of whom reside in Westport. She was the daughter of Rita Coelho of Fall River, and the late Sebastiao Coelho. Additional survivors include a sister, brother-in-law, niece, aunt, and several cousins. She was born in the island of Terceira in the Azores. After residing there for 16 years, she immigrated to Fall River in 1968. She was naturalized as a citizen of the United States. She resided in Fall River most of her life, employed as a seamstress. Maria worked in the garment trade at Anderson-Little, Quaker Fabrics, and several other shops. Although laboring countless hours with the needle and thread, she still found time to enjoy knitting, crochet, working in the garden, and playing with her dogs, Rusty and Regin. Maria was a parishioner at St. Anthony of Padua Church and a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union. Her Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, October 10th, in St. Anthony of Padua Church followed by her committal at Notre Dame Cemetery.
