Maria "Lucy" Medeiros, 96, of Cherry St, died peacefully at home on November 25, 2007. She was the wife of the late John T. Medeiros, poet author of Do Tempo e de Mim. Born in Fall River, she was the daughter of the late John C. and Maria do Carmo (Teixeira) Furtado. She is survived by: her brother, Leonardo Furtado of Fall River; 2 nieces, Ligia Martin of Bristol, RI, and Judy Isabel of Somerset; a nephew, Mario Medeiros, and his wife Ruth, of Somerset; a stepson, Edmundo Medeiros of East Providence, RI; 3 stepgrandsons, several step greatgrandchildren, and several grandnieces & nephews. She was also sister of the late Mary Pacheco and John Furtado; and stepmother of the late Fernando Medeiros. Her Funeral Mass, celebrated by Father Brian Albino, was offered on Thursday (11/29) in St. Anthony of Padua Church. Committal services followed at St. Patrick Cemetery. Pallbearers were Joseph Medeiros, John Medeiros, Michael Medeiros, David Martin, Paul Patenaude and Antero B. Cabral.
